This is an Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales funded course. Course costs will be subsidised by the College for organisations that have a service level agreement in place for 2017—18.
1. Target Audience
The Award in Youth Work Practice is targeted at learners, working under supervision in the voluntary or statutory youth work sectors.
- Unqualified youth workers wishing to become a qualified support youth worker
- Full - and part-time youth workers
- Volunteer youth workers
Entry requirements - learners must be:
- 16 years + to undertake the qualification
- Working with young people or have a placement in a youth work setting. Have a current DBS or undertake a DBS check on enrolment
2. Purpose of the Qualification
The purpose of the qualification is to prepare learners for further learning or training and/or develop knowledge and skills in youth work practice.
3. Achieving the Award
The Level Two Award in Youth Work Practice is composed of a total of 4 units. To achieve the Award, the learner must achieve all four units.
This Award contains the following units and 30hours of placement (see below (5) below):

Learners must complete all units within two years of registration.
4. Assessment Requirements
Learners must complete a range of tasks outlined in the assessment criteria and include: Written assignments / task sheets / observation / group and project work.
5. Work Based Learning (Practice in a Youth Work Setting)
The learner will spend up to 30 hours on placement activities.
Please note: Before the placement is commenced a current DBS is required, and a signed Placement Agreement Form must be submitted to the College by line manager/supervisor who is qualified at level 3 or above.
The placement learning can be achieved by working in a youth club or other youth organisation for a few hours a week or for a block period. However it is required that the placement learning covers a sufficient period of time for the learner to develop relationships with the young people and extend and review their practice and professional development.
