New registration categories for the Education Workforce Council: second consultation on draft statutory instrument [HTML] | GOV.WALES

To strengthen the professionalisation of the youth work workforce we have decided to remove the Level 2 qualifications from the 2016 Order.

However, those already registered with a Level 2 qualification will continue to register in the category of Youth Support Worker for two years from the commencement of the order.

This allows time for any individuals not currently working towards a higher-level qualification to consider their options and enrol on a course that provides eligibility for provisional registration (if they wished to do so). This 2-year window also provides an opportunity for individuals to avoid a gap in registration.

[The Registration Rules 2023 came into force on 1 June 2023.]
